Altrusa International of Quincy, MA

Altrusa is an international non-profit organization making our local communities better through leadership, partnership, and service.

Our club offers an opportunity to make a real difference in QUINCY, MA. We undertake a variety of service, literacy, fundraising and international projects each year.

We are seeking new volunteers to join our organization and make a difference. Our members are from varying occupations and lifestyles, all sharing an interest in community service and enjoying the friendship, fun and satisfaction that comes from working together for the benefit of others.

Our Projects

Service Projects

Decorated Rocks of Kindness for those who are troubled * Birthday in a Box for Foster Children * Sunshine and Holiday Care bags for elderly residents * Food and Book donations for young families and children at Interfaith Social Services Center servicing 20 communities in the South Shore of Boston, MA. * Meals for elderly neighbors.

Literacy Projects

Stock Neighborhood "Little Free Library" with books for those in need * Quincy Elementary Schools: Reading classics to elementary school children * Distributing books to Quincy and neighboring elementary schools * Reading recommendations to all school aged children for Media centers and libraries

Donations/Fundraisers

Partnership with Quincy Art Association to foster Art Literacy * Relay for Life various fundaising activities * PanCan (Pancreatic Cancer) yearly fundraising Event * Pretzels with a Purpose fundraiser for American Cancer Society

Highlights

Distributed over 50 cases of books to various non-profits for various age group distribution. * Each member volunteered over 300 hours of their time to help those in need and contributed to over 100 random acts of kindness.
